The last official iRoadTrip interview (for this trip) was interesting. I was able to speak with Brett Hines who heads up the new EcoBoost technology for Ford. This technology is making better fuel economies available and affordable in all vehicle lines – Brett talks about this technology and how its development was accelerated. While we were talking, the fire alarm went off – which apparently happens in the Innovation Lab regularly… listen to how Brett talks about it and relates it to innovation.
While the rest of the iRoadTrip crew was able to enjoy SXSW, I had to drive the Ford Escape back to its home in Detroit. When back at Ford headquarters, I had a chance to sit down with Greg Frenette of the Ford’s Sustainable Technology Division. Greg provides a great overview and then a tour of their garage where I got to see the future of our own garages! Enjoy!
The Garage Tour: Great overview of Ford’s Hydrogen vehicles and the challenges they face – it is amazing that they have 30 hydrogen vehicles on the road today with over 1 million miles! This video focuses on one of these and what they have learned to push these innovations forward.
We turned the camera over to Scott Monty of Ford and had him interview us on our reflections pro and con of the trip. You can tell at this point that the four of us had clearly been spending too much time together. Enjoy.
The iRoadTrip team caught up with Scott Monty of Ford at SXSW, who oversees the company’s social media initiatives. We had a chance to speak with him about innovation, social media, and his various initiatives and challenges. While Scott really well articulates the programs he has put together at Ford, I especially liked his comments on the innovative culture at Ford and its leadership – enjoy!
We had the incredible fortune of meeting Isaac Smitley, during the Louisville Tweetup at Molly Malones. Isaac is in charge of the network at Zappos warehouse and was kind enough to provide us a tour. While cameras were not allowed, the audio below, with Jeff Cutler and John Johansen’s never ending commentary provide all the visuals that you need as they describe the incredible robots that we saw that are helping move Zappos to the forefront of online retailing.
